Kongu Kalaiarangam
Erode sits on the Kaveri, in the middle of the Kongu country — a town of looms and turmeric yards, an overnight train from most places and worth the journey from all of them.
By air
Coimbatore International is the one to book — a hundred kilometres out, about two hours by road, with direct flights from Chennai, Bengaluru, Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad. Salem is nearer at sixty kilometres but serves very few flights, so check before you choose it.
By train
Erode Junction is one of the busiest junctions on the Southern Railway and sits on the Chennai–Coimbatore main line. The Shatabdi, the Kovai and the Yercaud all stop here, and the hall is a short drive from the platform.
By road
Erode lies on the Salem–Coimbatore highway. Long-distance buses run into the Central Bus Station from Chennai, Bengaluru, Coimbatore and Salem, and taxis are easy to find at any hour.

Two. The betrothal on Saturday evening and the reception on Sunday late morning are both at Kongu Kalaiarangam. Only the muhurtham itself is at Thindal Murugar Temple, about fifteen minutes away. Each gathering above has its own map link.
Breakfast from seven on Sunday morning, once we are back from the temple. Lunch from twelve at the reception, served on banana leaf. Dinner follows the rituals on Saturday evening.
Traditional South Indian, if you have it — silk, cotton, whatever sits well in November heat. The temple before dawn is the one cool hour of the weekend, so bring something over your shoulders.
Yes at both. Kongu Kalaiarangam has parking on site, off Perundurai Road. The temple has parking at the gate, and it will be quiet at that hour. Volunteers will direct you.
Very. Bring them. A Kongu wedding is loud enough that no one will hear them.
